10 Effective ways for Freelance Web Desingers to work professionally
Just because you work freelance does not mean you have to forgo the all important word called professionalism. This can be exhibited in many ways depending on the nature of the job and how the work is handled. However, the most common aspect would have to be the delivery of payments and sending of invoices. Yes, you trust your writer or designer or photographer but of course, you still want a solid proof that the amount you pay is the right one. This also works on the freelancer to client basis. Here are some tools that a freelancer can send a proper invoice to their clients.
1. Get hold of a software for Invoice creation

Creating a lovely format for the invoice can be a lot of work since they basically come in templates and they should be laid down with the right calculations. What makes this good is that you can easily keep track of the clients and the amount of money that you will report to them. With the help of invoicing programs, the freelancer can easily figure out the financial aspects and keep it organized.
2. Create clear policies with the payment schemes
You will come across some clients who are not going to pay on time for valid and not so valid reasons. In some cases, the clients will just say that they will not pay. To prevent these things from happening, it would be ideal to come up with a policy with regards to payment and non-payment of fees. Make a clear description of the payment channels. Do you accept cash only? Do you accept credit cards? Do you have a PayPal or Moneybookers account? How many days will it be considered delayed payment? What are the repercussions for non-payment? Remember that these are not rules but only guides but at least they know you are serious with the way you handle the business.
3. You have your policies? Stick to them!
You cannot just change the policy that the client has gotten used to following. If you have a policy, make sure that it takes effect at least after another payment day. This way, the clients can adjust and learn the policies and they can review if the policy is good or bad. This way, you are on the same page with the clients.
4. The charging matters

The common rule is never go undercharge for the services. Never quote too low. You may have a minimum but this should be in line with the competition. Remember the phrase, overworked and underpaid? That’s what you will get. You will attract cheap clients who will offer bulk projects at a cheap price where in fact you deserve to be paid double for that job.
5. Acceptable payment options
Remember to make it clear to the clients what payment options are necessary. It is wise to be diverse with the payment options since most of them are not not willing to pay using credit card. Some would like bank transfers, checks and some accept more conventional options like Moneybookers and PayPal.
6. Due Dates
Inform your clients that the payments are made a day after the product is delivered. It is necessary to be clear with the terms. Talk to them that the payment will be paid by this time if there is a set deadline.
7. Never forget to give your contact details
Always include your full name, address, email, phone number and all important details for the client to get in touch with you. This makes it easier for them to get a hold of you when they have queries or if they will not be able to send the money on time.
8. Organize your invoice
Pay attention to the sequence of the payments. This is particularly ideal if you will be sending a lot of invoices.
9. Keep your records
All your transactions should be labeled recorded and should come in hard and soft copies so that you can make the necessary checks for taxes or if you want to check the progress of your business.
10. Remember to make follow ups

It is very crucial that you make a follow up in a scheduled basis. Being systematic and organize is the best way to show professionalism to the clients especially with regards to money matters.
